- By Melissa Ruggieri mruggieri@ajc.com

Howard Stern will leave his cozy New York environs for a stint on the West Coast to inaugurate the new SiriusXM Hollywood.

The California branch of SiriusXM/Pandora – located in the Hollywood Media District on Sycamore Avenue — will open Oct. 7. This is the first time Stern has broadcast from a location other than New York in 15 years and his first from Los Angeles in nearly 20 years.

Earlier this year, Stern released “Howard Stern Comes Again,” a compilation of notable interviews from the show that entered the New York Times Best Seller list at No. 1. Earlier this summer, he mentioned on “The Howard Stern Show” that he was thinking about hitting the West Coast to do another round of press for the book in time for the holiday season.

The weeks leading to Stern’s official christening of the new building will include special broadcasts of music performances across several SiriusXM channels from the new Hollywood studio complex and from venues around L.A.

On Wednesday, Carrie Underwood will sit with a studio audience for a town hall hosted by SiriusXM’s Jenny McCarthy. Underwood will be joined by Maddie & Tae and Runaway June. It will air live on SiriusXM’s The Highway (ch.56) at 4 p.m. and will rebroadcast on SiriusXM Stars (ch. 109) on Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, Dave Matthews will perform an intimate acoustic set for SiriusXM subscribers at The Garage performance space in the new L.A. digs. It will air at 8 p.m. on Dave Matthews Band Radio (ch. 30).

And Sept. 18 will bring Billie Eilish – a few days removed from her set at Music Midtown – to The Troubadour, where she will perform songs from her debut album, “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” The show will air live on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation (ch. 36) at 11 p.m.
