The festival is a fundraiser organized by Cobb Landmarks, which owns and operates the house that was built around 1845 in downtown Marietta.

The house was owned by William Root, who opened a drug store on Marietta Square in 1839. Root also grew medicinal plants in his garden. The William Root House Museum offers a glimpse into the lives of the Root family and the enslaved people who lived and worked on the property, according to the museum’s website.
