Trump appointee: Paula White, personal pastor to President Trump, has joined the administration in the Office of Public Liaison, a White House official said. The office oversees outreach to groups organizing key parts of the president’s base. White’s role will be to advise the administration’s Faith and Opportunity Initiative.
Truck death arrests: Police in Vietnam and Ireland made three new arrests Friday in the Oct. 23 deaths of 39 people found in a refrigerated truck container in England. Two people suspected of organizing a peoplesmuggling operation in Vietnam were arrested, and extradition proceedings were underway to bring a 22-year-old man from Ireland to the U.K. to face manslaughter charges.
Keystone leak: Gov. Doug Burgum said he has “received assurance” from TC Energy, owner of the Keystone pipeline, it will clean up a spill resulting from a 383,000-gallon leak in northeast North Dakota “as thoroughly and quickly as possible.”The pipeline remained closed Friday.
Loughlin plea: Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, have pleaded not guilty to new bribery charges in the college admissions scandal. Prosecutors have accused them of paying $500,000 to get their two daughters designated as crew team recruits to ensure their admission to the University of Southern California.
St. Louis shooting: A warrant has been issued for a St. Louis police officer after an internal investigation concluded he shot a man he was chasing multiple times in the back in August 2018. Officer Matthew EerNisse, 26, is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. The man he shot was treated for gunshot wounds and survived.
