UPS driver honored: Family and friends are honoring a UPS driver who was killed in a shootout between Florida police and the robbery suspects who had hijacked his delivery truck. Loved ones and coworkers of Frank Ordonez gathered at a UPS Customer Center in Miami with lit candles and flowers Sunday. There, they wrote messages on UPS slips they stuck to a car at the vigil.

IT concerns at Census Bureau being remedied: Informatio­n technology problems at the U.S. Census Bureau have been fixed or are in the process of being remedied, despite recent reports raising concerns about the bureau’s preparedne­ss for the 2020 Census, the agency’s director said Monday. Census Bureau director Steven Dillingham said the agency’s IT systems are undergoing“some tremendous testing.”

Mortality proposal: Gov. Ralph Northam on Monday proposed spending nearly $22 million over two years to help reduce maternal mortality rates among women of color, previewing the stamp he’ll put on the state’s budget when it comes out next week. Northam, a Democrat, will announce funding for early childhood education programs today.

N. Korea insults Trump: North Korea insulted U.S. President Donald Trump again on Monday, calling him a“heedless and erratic old man”after he tweeted that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wouldn’t want to abandon a special relationsh­ip between the two leaders and affect the American presidenti­al election by resuming hostile acts.

Canada sues: The Canadian government said it is charging Volkswagen for importing cars into Canada that executives knew violated emissions standards. The German automaker faces 58 charges of violating the Canadian law for bringing 128,000 cars into Canada with illegal emissions between 2008 and 2015.
