1 BASEBALL:

The Baltimore Orioles signed free-gent right-hander Kohl Stewart to a major league contract. Stewart pitched the past two seasons with the Twins. He was 2-2 with a 6.39 ERA in nine games last season, starting twice and allowing five home runs in 25⅓ innings.

2 BASEBALL:

Left fielder Corey Dickerson reportedly agreed to terms on a $17.5 million, two-year contract with the Miami Marlins. Dickerson battled injuries last season but batted .304 with 12 homers, 59 RBIs and a .906 OPS in 78 games for the Phillies and Pirates. He’s a nine-year veteran and a career .286 hitter from the left side.

3 TENNIS:

Andy Murray has put his Grand Slam comeback on hold after announcing he will not be playing at the Australian Open next month. Tennis Australia issued a statement saying Murray had withdrawn from the seasonopen­ing major at Melbourne Park and from the ATP Cup, a new internatio­nal men’s team event that starts next week and will be played in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. Murray had surgery to repair a career-threatenin­g hip injury after a loss at the Australian Open last January.

4 SKIING:

Mikaela Shiffrin maintained her unbeaten streak in slalom with her third win of the season and matched Lindsey Vonn’s record for most women’s World Cup victories in a single discipline. Shiffrin earned her 43rd career slalom win by dominating Sunday’s race in Lienz, Austria, posting the fastest times in both runs to beat her Slovakian rival Petra Vlhova by 0.61 seconds.

5 SKIING:

Alexis Pinturault used his slalom skills to come from behind and win a men’s World Cup Alpine combined event in Bormio, Italy. Pinturault won by 0.51 seconds ahead of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway, while Loic Meillard of Switzerlan­d was another five hundredths further back in third.
