What’s not working around metro Atlanta

A reader is concerned about a median in DeKalb County.

“The median is on East Rock Springs Road between Briarcliff and Highland. I live on East Rock Springs Road in front of the median and am always hearing cars run into it,” wrote Sally Densmore.

She said the median is not marked well because somany cars have run into it and broken the reflectors and signs.

“I did write you several years ago regarding this same median after therewas a serious accident when someone hit the median and then hit the telephone pole right to the side of it,” Densmore added.

She said the county did put a sign on it, plus bright yellow reflectors and yellow poles around the median, which helped for about a year until cars again began hitting it.

Item: Brookhaven (DeKalb)

Tim Flanagan wants action on a dangerous road problem.

“At the intersection of and Thompson Road in Brookhaven, there is a fair amount of water coming up through the pavement and has been doing so since the summer months. The leak isn’t a problem now, but when the temperature dips below freezing in the coming weeks, this will be a hazardous situation because at night you can’t see it. It’s on a downhill curve and will cause a severe black ice accident if nothing is done to repair it,” Flanagan said.

He said he has been calling the DeKalb County water emergency number for months and was told there is a work order on it.
