1 No TikTok ban: Amazon said it mistakenly sent an email to employees Friday telling them to delete the popular video app TikTok from their phones. Amazon had told employees to delete the app from phones on which they use Amazon email, citing “security risks” from the China-owned app. TikTok said Amazon did not notify it before sending the email.
2 State of emergency: Gov. Gary Herbert of Utah declared a state of emergency late Thursday in response to protests in Salt Lake City that erupted after authorities said the fatal police shooting of a 22-year-old man in May was justified.

Death ruled a suicide: The death 4 of a 24-year-old Black man found hanging from a tree in a Southern California city park last month was ruled a suicide Thursday following a police investigation prompted by outrage from the family who said authorities initially were too quick to rule out the possibility he was lynched.
5 Trade deal low priority: President Donald Trump suggested work on the second phase of a U.S.-China trade deal has become a low priority, saying the two nation’s relationship has been “severely damaged” by Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
