The Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy has announced plans and is registering volunteers for the 10th annual “Sweep the Hooch Cleanup.”
More than 1,000 people are expected to turn out to “walk, wade or paddle” at 45 sites along the Chattahoochee and its tributaries, according to an event announcement.
The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Whitewater/East Palisades unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.
“All sites are by or in the water,” the event organizers said. “Walkers will likely get your feet wet. Wading means we need people in thigh-high or full waders where the water is deep. Details provided in your confirmation email.”
