2 Cannon dropped: Nick Cannon’s “hateful speech” and anti-Semitic theories led ViacomCBS to cut ties with the TV host and producer, the media giant said. The company’s move was in response to remarks made by Cannon on a podcast in which he and Richard “Professor Griff ” Griffith, the former Public Enemy member, discussed racial bias. The podcast reportedly was made last year and aired two weeks ago.
3 New host named: Tyra Banks will be showing off her moves as solo host of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” The supermodel, actor and businesswoman who co-created “America’s Next Top Model” will replace longtime host Tom Bergeron and take on the role of executive producer, ABC said late Tuesday.
4 Rose Bowl Parade canceled: The 2021 Rose Parade has been canceled because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on planning for the New Year’s Day tradition and the risk of spreading infections among its huge audience and participants, organizers said Wednesday. The Pasadena, California, Tournament of Roses Association said the decision was put off until organizers were certain that safety restrictions would prevent staging of the 132nd parade.
5 Congressman charged: Rep. Steve Watkins, R-Kan., was charged with three felonies related to voter fraud Tuesday, shortly before a televised debate in which he dismissed the accusations involving a municipal election as a political move.
