COLLEGE BASKETBALL:

Big Ten player of the year Luka Garza is withdrawin­g from the NBA draft and will return to Iowa for his senior season. The center scored 20 or more points in the last 16 games of his junior season and was a consensus first-team All-American and runner-up for AP national player of the year. Creighton’s Denzel Mahoney and Damien Jefferson and Arizona State guard Remy Martin also withdrew from the draft and are returning for their senior seasons.

PRO GOLF:

Sam Horsfield shot a final round 4-under 68 to win the Hero Open by one stroke in Birmingham, England. The Englishman, 23, clinched his first European Tour title with an 18-under 270 total, holding off second-place Thomas Detry of Belgium.

HORSE RACING:

Thousand Words upset 1-5 favorite Honor A.P. by three-quarters of a length in the $100,000 Shared Belief Stakes at Del Mar (Calif.) on Saturday, giving trainer Bob Baffert another candidate for next month’s Kentucky Derby.

PRO FOOTBALL:

Jacksonvil­le signed fifth-year defensive end Adam Gotsis after two linemen opted out of the season because of the pandemic. The Jaguars also placed starting quarterbac­k Gardner Minshew, running back Ryquell Armstead, tight end Charles Jones, receiver Michael Walker and safety Andrew Wingard on the COVID-19 list Sunday. Jones was activated from the COVID-19 list earlier in the day.

PRO FOOTBALL:

Dallas released Kai Forbath, clearing the way for Greg Zuerlein to be their kicker. Forbath signed a one-year contract in March and Zuerlein signed a three-year contract with $2.3 million guaranteed a few days later. Also, Cowboys fullback Jamize Olawale on Sunday become the team’s third player to opt out because of the pandemic.
