- By Gabriel Burns gabriel.burns@ajc.com

The Braves (7-4) lost ace Mike Soroka to a torn right Achilles tendon and a five-game win streak on Monday night at Truist Park. Here’s a quick recap of the 7-2 loss to the Mets:

The details

Soroka was injured in the third inning as he came off the mound to cover third base. He immediately went to the ground and eventually had to be helped off the field. Manager Brian Snitker confirmed following the game that Soroka will miss the rest of the season.

At the plate

The Braves managed seven hits, five off Mets starter Jacob deGrom. They struck out 15 times, including 10 against deGrom. Travis d’Arnaud went 2-for-4 with a single and home run against deGrom. Dansby Swanson had his first hitless game of the season, snapping a 10-game hit streak.

On the mound

Soroka lasted 2⅓ innings before leaving. He gave up four earned runs. Chris Rusin came on in relief and worked 3⅓ innings and gave up three earned runs.

Notable

■ Ronald Acuna had two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth inning. It was the third consecutive night he had an extrabase hit with a total of four in the three games.

■ D’Arnaud is batting .400 (6-for-15) with a home run and seven RBIs in his four games since rejoining the Braves.

■ The Braves went 5-2 against the Mets in their first seven meetings. The rivals meet one more time, a three-game series in September.

Quotable

“To sum it up, this night just sucks. When you lose one of the top pitching arms in this entire game for the whole season, it’s pretty tough. He was just about to take off. He was unbelievable as a rookie last year and he was off to an incredible start again.” — Freddie Freeman on loss of Soroka
