Invisible Hands Atlanta delivers essentials to vulnerable residents

- By Shannon Dominy

Invisible Hands is a nonprofit started in New York that provides free deliveries of essential goods to people who are at high risk during the coronavirus pandemic. The Atlanta chapter, started by Krush and Dhara Patel, marks the third chapter.

“We are neighbors helping neighbors,” said Dhara Patel. “My brother and I are not super comfortable leaving the house right now, and we’re healthy 20-somethings. We can’t even imagine what a person who is at higher risk must be feeling right now.”

The siblings decided to extend the work that Invisible Hands was doing in New York to help Atlantans feel safer. They also hope to partner with Atlanta food banks to help with food bank deliveries.

“They’re quite busy right now,” said Dhara Patel. “We’re hoping to help them reduce their load and make sure everything is running more smoothly there.”

Right now, Invisible Hands Atlanta is looking for volunteers to help with deliveries and for help spreading the word about their services.

“We are trying to find where the need is, so if you know the nice old couple down the street might find our delivery services useful, please do let us know, and we will try to help,” said Dhara Patel. “We don’t want anyone to have to pick between putting themselves in a risky situation and getting critical supplies.”
