1 Palestinian laborers to get vaccine: Israel on Sunday announced plans to vaccinate tens of thousands of Palestinians who work inside Israel and its West Bank settlements. Israel has come under international criticism for not sharing its vaccine stockpile with the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, even as it plans to share surplus vaccines with farflung allies in Africa, Europe and Latin America.
2 Astronauts make spacewalk: Astronauts ventured out Sunday to install support frames for new solar panels arriving at the International Space Station this year. Kate Rubins and Victor Glover put the first set of mounting brackets and struts together, then bolted theminto place. But the work took longer than expected, and Rubins will finish the job during a second spacewalk later this week.
3 Texans protest: About 50 people gathered Sunday outside ERCOT’S campus in suburban Austin, demanding the nonprofit that controls about 85% of the Texas power grid take responsibility for the disastrous failure that plunged millions into darkness without heat or water. The protest called for the independent organization to be put under public control and be required to pay for the public crisis it created.
4 Mystery writer dies: Margaret Maron, a prolific North Carolina-based mystery writer whose book series won her major awards and plaudits in the genre, has died at age 82, a family member said Sunday. She died from stroke-related complications, her son said.
