HOW WE GOT THE STORY

The Atlanta JournalConstitution has been tracking cases and deaths in senior-care facilities since the pandemic began.

For this story, we analyzed data from the Department of Community Health to understand the trends and drew on data on vaccination rates in long-term care facilities.

We then sought out infectious disease experts and officials from the longterm care industry for their insights into the reasons for the improvements in the facilities.
