1 WOMEN’S PRO GOLF: Jennifer Kupcho made a 12-foot eagle putt on the final hole to cut Austin Ernst’s lead to a stroke in the LPGA Tour’s Drive On Championsh­ip. Kupcho shot a 2-under 70 at Ocala, Florida. Ernst parred the last six holes in a 69 and was at 13-under 203. Albane Valenzuela (66), Patty Tavatanaki­t (69) and Jenny Coleman (70) were tied for third at 7 under. Nelly Korda had a 76 to drop to 3 under.

2 HOCKEY: Mark Pavelich, the speedy center who played on the “Miracle on Ice” Olympic team, died Thursday in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He was 63 and Anoka County officials said the cause and manner of death are still pending. Pavelich assisted on Mike Eruzione’s winning goal against the heavily favored Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics. He later played in the NHL, finishing with 137 goals and 192 assists in 355 regular-season games.

3 PRO BOXING: Claressa Shields won a unanimous decision over Marie-Eve Dicaire in a 154-pound unificatio­n bout Friday night. Shields (11-0) beat Dicaire (17-1) — 100-90 on all three cards — to become the unified WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA super junior middleweig­ht world champ. Shields was fighting in her hometown of Flint, Michigan — in a matchup postponed from last year because of the pandemic.

4 SKIING: American Mikaela Shiffrin denied her rival, Petra Vlhova, a home win in Jasna, Slovakia, winning the first World Cup slalom following the world championsh­ips by 0.34 seconds.

5 CYCLING: The Netherland­s’ Mathieu van der Poel won the Strade Bianche race in Siena, Italy, leaving behind world champion Julian Alaphilipp­e and 2019 Tour de France champion Egan Bernal on the finishing climb where the gradient reached a leg-breaking 16%. Alaphilipp­e crossed five seconds behind, and Bernal was third, 20 seconds back.
