49ers agree to 5- year deal making Juszczyk NFL’S top- paid fullback

-

San Francisco agreed on a five- year, $ 27 million contract with Kyle Juszczyk that will make him the NFL’S highest- paid fullback. Juszczyk’s contract tops the record he set for fullbacks in 2017 with a $ 21 million, four- year deal.

PATRIOTS: Agreed to sign free- agent tight end Jonnu Smith in their biggest move to date to fill the void created by the departure of Rob Gronkowski. Smith agreed to a four- year, $ 50 million deal, said his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Deals can’t be finalized until the start of the new league year Wednesday.

Smith had been a consistent presence for Tennessee, appearing in 60 games with 53 starts over the past four years, and is coming off his best season: 41 catches for 448 yards and eight TDS.

CHIEFS: Cash- strapped Kansas City continued to free salary- cap space ahead of the start of free agency, restructuring contracts with high- profile players. The Chiefs already planned to convert some of QB Patrick Mahomes’ roster bonus into a signing bonus. Now they are reworking the contracts of TE Travis Kelce and DT Chris Jones to create about $ 20 million in additional space, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. The Chiefs made a big move to rebuild their offensive line Monday, agreeing with Joe Thuney on a five- year contract.

RAVENS: Guard Kevin Zeitler agreed to a three- year, $ 22 million contract. The durable guard has started all 16 games in five of the past six seasons.
