1 PRO FOOTBALL: The NFL announced it will partner with iheartmedia in launching a podcast network. The NFL currently produces seven podcasts featuring writers from the league’s website as well as NFL Network commentators. Those will now be distributed by iheartmedia through its podcast network, on its app and other podcast platforms. The two parties will also team up to produce and distribute podcasts currently in the works.
PRO FOOTBALL: N.C. 2 State University alumnus and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson will return to the school May 14 and 15 as a commencement speaker for graduation ceremonies. Wilson earned a communication degree in 2010 and played baseball and football for the Wolfpack.
3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Joe Milton appears headed to the SEC. The former Michigan quarterback is transferring to Tennessee, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports. 247Sports also reported Milton’s name was in Tennessee’s student directory. Milton entered the transfer portal Feb. 18 as a graduate transfer and will have immediate eligibility and three seasons to play.
4 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Youngstown State was placed on probation for two years and hit with recruiting sanctions after the school and the NCAA agreed several rules violations were committed under former coach Bo Pelini (2015-19). Pelini was defensive coordinator at LSU until December.
5 COLLEGES: College athletes in Mississippi will soon be able to earn money from their own name, image or likeness. Gov. Tate Reeves signed Senate Bill 2313, which becomes law July 1. All eight of Mississippi’s public universities and the state College Board supported the law, which officials said will help the schools compete for talent.
