Belgium will next face Italy on Friday . ... Tomas Holes and Patrik Schick scored second-half goals to give the Czech Republic a 2-0 win over Netherlands and a place in the quarterfinals. The Czechs will face Denmark on Saturday.
PRO GOLF: Viktor Hovland
2 held off a final-round charge from Martin Kaymer to become the first Norwegian winner of a European Tour event, at the BMW International Open in Munich. Hovland (70) finished on 19 under to beat Kaymer by two shots after the German shot 8-under 64 in the final round . ... Steve Stricker won the Bridgestone Seniors Players Championship in Akron, Ohio for his second victory of the year and third major title. Stricker closed with an even-par 70 for a six-stroke victory over Jerry Kelly.
PRO SOCCER: Jimmy Medranda 3 scored his first goal in three years midway through the second half, and the Seattle Sounders extended their unbeaten streak to 11 matches with a 2-2 draw vs. the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. The Sounders (70-4) moved within a game of the MLS record for the longest season-opening unbeaten streak, accomplished four times by three teams.

Joel Armia is in COVID-19 protocol and wasn’t traveling with the team Sunday to Tampa Bay, a day before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Canadiens also are without interim coach Dominique Ducharme, in isolation since testing positive for COVID-19 on June 18.
