1 PRO BASEBALL: Royals seventime All-star catcher Salvador Perez put himself among the most exclusive company in baseball history with his 45th home run of the season on Thursday against Oakland. With the blast, Perez matched Hall of Famer Johnny Bench for the most in a season by a primary catcher (having caught in at least 75% of their games). Bench, a 14-time All-star, set his mark in 1970 as a 22-year-old with the Reds.

2 PRO BASKETBALL:

The Dallas Mavericks signed free agent Frank Ntilikina on Thursday, adding the guard picked one spot before their selection of Dennis Smith Jr. in the top 10 of the 2017 draft. Ntilikina spent four years with the New York Knicks, who drafted him eighth overall four years ago. Smith went ninth to the Mavericks, who traded the point guard to the Knicks a year and a half later.

3 PRO FOOTBALL: The“hard Knocks” franchise will have regular-season episodes for the first time when “Hard Knocks In Season: The Indianapol­is Colts” debuts Nov. 17 on HBO. NFL Films announced the series during halftime of Thursday night’s Giants at Washington game.

4 PRO GOLF: Carlota Ciganda overcame an early double bogey in chilly morning conditions Thursday for a 4-under 68 and a share of the first-round lead in the Cambia Portland Classic. The only member of the winning European Solheim Cup team in the field, the Spaniard teed off with the temperatur­e in the mid-40s at hilly and windy Oregon Golf Club.

OBITUARY: Roger Brown, a

College Football Hall of Famer and six-time Pro Bowl selection with the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams, has died. He was 84. The Lions and College Football Hall of Fame announced his death on Friday. The Lions said a member of Brown’s family confirmed the death. No cause was given. Brown played 10 years in the NFL.
