Gwinnett Korean BBQ spot fails health inspection

A Gwinnett County restaurant specializi­ng in Korean barbecue failed a recent health inspection. Seo Ra Beol in Duluth scored 55/U on Sept. 14. There were no previous scores listed on the report.

According to the report, there was no certified food service manager on site since July. The facility was given 10 days to correct the violation.

Other violations:

■ Raw beef was stored over ready-to-eat foods, and raw frozen raw fish was removed from the original package and stored over frozen ready-to-eat foods also removed from the original package, as well as unwashed produce stored over ready-to-eat foods.

■ Several cold foods in the walk-in cooler and several prep coolers were holding at temperatur­es above 41 degrees.

■ Several chemical lighters and butane torches were stored over prep line coolers.

■ The f acility was using improper methods for cooling foods for cold storage (cooked rice, cut lettuce, cooked vegetables, cooked bone broth, rehydrated rice).

■ Several pots and boxes of food were stored on the floor in the kitchen, walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer.

■ Several boxes of single use items were stored on the floor in the outside storage units.

■ The facility had several raw wooden cabinets, shelves lined with newspaper, stove and grill lined with aluminum foil, cinder blocks used for propping open doors, and bricks used to hold up equipment.

■ Several nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment were dirty with lots of food debris.

■ There were several areas throughout the kitchen where the floors and walls need to be cleaned.

■ Several flytraps were located over clean dishes and equipment at the entrance to the kitchen.

■ There were several flies inside the kitchen, dry storage room and outside the back of the facility where outdoor storage units are located.

Most restaurant­s with failed scores are reinspecte­d within 10 days.
