Community Champion Awards to be given
Christian City, a local nonprofit that provides life-changing hope for children and families in crisis, is honoring individuals and businesses that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment toward the betterment of the Atlanta community with an awards ceremony. The second annual Community Champion Awards dinner will pay tribute to special and deserving recipients in three categories: Individual, Nonprofit and Corporate, according to a news release.
Individual: Dan Cathy, chairman and CEO of Chick-fil-a, is recognized for his lifelong commitment of giving. His dedication to helping metro Atlanta communities is exemplified by his many years of volunteer work and philanthropic efforts. His involvement with numerous ministries and nonprofits has changed thousands of lives.
Nonprofit: 100 Black Men of Atlanta is recognized for supporting and enhancing economic and educational opportunities for African Americans. The group’s focus on public policy, social and health issues has had a lasting impact on youths in metro Atlanta.
Corporate: The Home Depot is recognized for the company’s immense impact through programs that have touched hundreds of thousands of lives by funding community impact projects, providing veteran housing grants, responding to areas devastated by natural disasters and supporting front-line workers fighting the pandemic.
The gala is Tuesday at Georgia Aquarium, 225 Baker St. NW, Atlanta. There will be a social hour and silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and the program beginning at 7 p.m. Proceeds support Christian City’s children and family programs.
