2 PRO FOOTBALL: Tom Brady wins in the TV ratings, too. NBC relentlessly promoted the Tampa Bay QB’S return to New England, and the Bucs-patriots game reached the biggest “Sunday Night Football” audience in years, the Nielsen company said. The 26.7 million who tuned in represented NBC’S biggest audience for the game since 2015. Add in people who streamed it, and the game reached 28 million, the biggest “Sunday Night Football” crowd since 2012.

1 PRO FOOTBALL: The Kansas City Chiefs are adding Josh Gordon to their 53-man roster and the wide receiver, just reinstated by the NFL last week, is expected to play in Sunday’s AFC title game rematch against Buffalo. The Chiefs signed Gordon, who had finished his sixth suspension for violations of NFL policies, to the practice squad last week with the assumption he would join the active roster when he learned enough of the playbook.

3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Maryland’s Dontay Demus, the Big Ten leader in yards receiving, is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Demus was hurt early in the second quarter against Iowa while returning a kickoff.

4 PRO WOMEN’S GOLF: Next year will be the final leap into “Poppie’s Pond,” ending 40 years of the only LPGA major held on the same course. The LPGA announced Chevron is taking over as title sponsor of the year’s first major starting in 2023 with plans to move it from California to Houston. It would replace the ANA Inspiration in a six-year deal. Japan-based ANA has been title sponsor at Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage since 2015.

5 PRO SOCCER: The MLS All-star Game will have a first-time host next season: Allianz Field, where the MLS stars will face a to-bedetermined opponent Aug. 10. The home of Minnesota United opened in 2019.
