COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Nebraska ended weeks of speculatio­n about coach Scott Frost’s future, announcing Monday he will return for a fifth season with a restructur­ed contract. A few hours later, Frost fired four offensive assistant coaches, effective immediatel­y.

PRO FOOTBALL: Browns right guard Wyatt Teller agreed to a four-year, $56.8 million contract extension with the team through the 2025 season. Teller has developed into one of the NFL’S best interior linemen during three seasons after coming over in a trade from Buffalo. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder was scheduled to become a free agent after this season. He was expected to sign the deal, which includes $28 million guaranteed, Tuesday.

SOCCER: Germany defender Niklas Süle tested positive for the coronaviru­s and four more players are in quarantine as a precaution ahead of World Cup qualifying games against Liechtenst­ein and Armenia. Team director Oliver Bierhoff said Tuesday that Süle was fully vaccinated and does not have any symptoms. Süle also tested positive for COVID-19 a year ago. Germany has already qualified for next year’s World Cup.

SOCCER: Paul Pogba will miss France’s World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Finland because of a right thigh injury, the national team said Tuesday. Video footage on French media showed the Manchester United midfielder pull up after taking a shot in training Monday, before hobbling away.

PRO BASEBALL: Left-handed reliever T.J. Mcfarland became the first of this year’s major league free agents to reach an agreement, getting a $2.5 million, one-year contract to stay with the Cardinals. Mcfarland stabilized the bullpen down the stretch after signing as a free agent July 1. The 32-year-old was 4-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 38 games and 38⅔ innings.
