1 SOCCER: No spectators will be allowed in the stadium next week when Bayern Munich hosts Barcelona in the Champions League because of stricter coronaviru­s measures, it was announced Friday.“it hits us very hard that we have to play in front of empty stands in the Allianz Arena again,” Bayern Executive Vice Chairman Jan-christian Dreesen said.“without our fans in the stadium, soccer is only half as beautiful, to say nothing of the financial consequenc­es.”

2 SOCCER: Horst Eckel, the last surviving member of West Germany’s 1954 World Cupwinning team, has died. He was 89. The German soccer federation said Eckel died Friday. It did not give a cause of death. Eckel was one of only two West German players to play in every match as the team completed the “Wonder of Bern” by beating favorite Hungary 3-2 in the final.

3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Troy has hired Kentucky co-defensive coordinato­r Jon Sumrall as its head coach, the school announced Thursday night. Sumrall replaces Chip Lindsey, who was fired Nov. 21 with one game left in his third season. Sumrall, 39, was assistant head coach at Troy from 2015 to 2017 under Neal Brown, who had been Kentucky’s offensive coordinato­r.

4 AUTO RACING: Lewis Hamilton was fastest in both Friday practice sessions for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Hamilton led Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas in the Friday evening session, which was ended about three minutes early because Charles Leclerc brought out the red flag with a high-speed crash in Turn 22.

5 PRO FOOTBALL: The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Friday it will present “Awards of Excellence” after the Super Bowl to honor longtime assistant coaches, athletic trainers, equipment managers and public relations personnel.
