1 GYMNASTICS: Three-time Olympic gold medal gymnast Kohei Uchimura of Japan — the man they call “King Kohei”— is retiring, his management company said Tuesday. The 33-year-old won gold in 2012 and 2016 as the best all-around men’s gymnast and also won a team gold in 2016. He also won four Olympic silver medals and won gold 10 times at world championsh­ips.

2 PRO HOCKEY: Dallas Stars coach Rick Bowness was fined $25,000 for twice slamming a stick against the boards behind the bench, seconds after his team’s 2-1 loss at St. Louis on Sunday. The Blues scored two power-play goals in the final minute, the 11th time in NHL history that a team won in regulation after trailing by one with a minute left.

3 OLYMPICS: German prosecutor­s will drop an animal cruelty investigat­ion into an athlete and a coach who were shown striking a horse during the Olympic modern pentathlon last year. The investigat­ion will be dropped once athlete Annika Schleu and coach Kim Raisner have paid an agreed sum to an unnamed charitable organizati­on, prosecutor­s in the eastern city of Potsdam said Tuesday.

4 OLYMPICS: Snowboard champion Patrizia Kummer will head to the Beijing Games early to spend three weeks in quarantine because she isn’t vaccinated against the coronaviru­s, she said Tuesday.

5 SKIING: Mikaela Shiffrin won the last women’s World Cup slalom before the Beijing Olympics, while Slovakian rival Petra Vlhova locked up the season title. Racing on the challengin­g Planai course in Austria, the American improved from fifth place, posting the fastest time with an all-attacking run to beat first-run leader Vlhova by 0.15 seconds. Germany’s Lena Dürr finished 0.93 behind in third.
