1 PRO HOCKEY: Robin Herman, 70, a gender barrier-breaking reporter for The New York Times who was the first female journalist to interview players in the locker room after an NHL game, has died. Her husband, Paul Horvitz, told the newspaper Herman died Tuesday from ovarian cancer. Herman was a reporter covering the New York Islanders when she and another female reporter were allowed to interview players in the locker room following the 1975 All-star game in Montreal.

2 COLLEGE ATHLETICS: University of Alabama trustees approved a plan Friday to construct a new basketball and gymnastics arena that would replace 54-year-old Coleman Coliseum at a cost of $183 million. The new facility would seat about 10,130 people, or roughly 4,300 fewer than Coleman, which would become a practice site.

PRO BASEBALL: The schedule

3 for each Triple-a team will be expanded to 150 games from 144 in the first full season the minor leagues are being run by Major League Baseball. MLB announced 144-game schedules for 2022 last August but added six additional games Thursday. The regular season is scheduled to start April 5 and end Sept. 28.

Milwaukee second baseman Rickie Weeks rejoined the Brewers on Friday as an assistant in player developmen­t. The Brewers also hired former Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Pedro Álvarez as an assistant in baseball operations and player developmen­t. Weeks played for the Brewers in 2003 and from 2005 to 2014. He was selected an All-star in 2011.

PRO BASKETBALL: The Clippers 5 are acquiring guard Norman Powell and wing Robert Covington from Portland in exchange for a package that includes Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow and Keon Johnson.
