1 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Florida removed the interim tag from Kelly Rae Finley’s title and gave her a five-year contract as coach. Finley took over in July when Cam Newbauer resigned amid allegation­s that he physically and verbally abused players. The Gators regrouped under Finley and moved into the AP Top 25 for the first time in more than five years while winning 10 of 11 games.

2 MIXED MARTIAL ARTS: Cain Velasquez, a former two-time UFC heavyweigh­t champion, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting injured a man in San Jose, Calif., authoritie­s said. Velasquez, 39, was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and is being held without bail, jail records show. His arraignmen­t is scheduled for today.

3 SOCCER: Pelé was released from a hospital after a urinary tract infection was treated. The 81-year-old was admitted Feb. 13 to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo to continue treatment for colon cancer, but days later doctors discovered an infection. The hospital reported the soccer great was released Saturday.

4 AUTO RACING: Seven people were hurt after a race car veered off the track at a speedway in Cochran, Georgia, and crashed into a pit area, authoritie­s said. Two of the people injured at Cochran Motor Speedway remained in the hospital Monday, authoritie­s said. The wreck happened Saturday just before an open practice, the track said in a news release. Video from the track showed the car knocked down a wall before ending up in the pits. The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office was investigat­ing the crash.

5 TRACK AND FIELD: Two-time Olympic women’s shot put champion Valerie Adams of New Zealand retired at age 37. Adams also won Olympic silver and bronze medals and was a fourtime world champion.
