1 PRO FOOTBALL: The Arizona Cardinals have signed coach Kliff Kingsbury and general manager Steve Keim to extensions that keep them under contract with the team through 2027. The moves give some security to the two men who helped guide the franchise to rapid improvemen­t over the past three seasons, but who also oversaw a headscratc­hing collapse last season after a 10-2 start.

MEN’S PRO BASKETBALL: The

Los Angeles Lakers have waived center Deandre Jordan and signed veteran point guard D.J. Augustin and forward Wenyen Gabriel. The Lakers also waived Sekou Doumbouya on Tuesday before their home game against Dallas. Jordan was a flop in his only season with the Lakers, who signed the 14-year veteran in September. He has been stuck to the Lakers’ bench since Christmas, appearing in only five games.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Umass 3 has fired men’s basketball coach Matt Mccall, effective at the end of the season. Mccall is 58-81 over five seasons in Amherst. He will coach the Minutemen (1216, 5-11 Atlantic 10) through the conference tournament. Umass has reached the NCAA Tournament only once since making seven straight trips from 1992 to 1998.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Kent

Waldrep, a TCU running back who became an advocate for disabled people after a spinal injury during a game left him paralyzed, has died. He was 67. After his injury during a 1974 game at Alabama left him paralyzed, Waldrep went on to help raise tens of millions of dollars around the world for paralysis research.

Capitals winger Carl Hagelin is expected to miss an extended period of time with what the team is calling a serious eye injury, which he suffered during practice on Tuesday.
