1 AUTO RACING: Formula One has terminated its contract with the Russian Grand Prix following the country’s invasion of Ukraine, saying Russia “will not have a race” in the future. F1 already canceled this year’s race, but following further discussions, the series went a step further and ended a contract that ran until 2025. Fourtime F1 champ Sebastian Vettel and other drivers said last week they wouldn’t race in Russia even if F1 decided to go there.
AUTO RACING: Formula One
2 champ Max Verstappen, 24, signed a new deal that adds five years to his contract, keeping him at Red Bull through 2028. Verstappen will open his title defense in Bahrain on March 20.

Tavatanakit shot 5-under 67 for a one-stroke lead after the first round of the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, which includes nine of the top 10 female golfers. Danielle Kang tied for second with Inbee Park and A Lim Kim. Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko and Brooke Henderson were among those tied for third . ... England’s Daniel Gavins shot 7-under 64 to lead the Kenya Open by a stroke after one round.
PRO WOMEN’S TENNIS: The

WTA Tour agreed to a multiyear, multimillion-dollar title sponsorship by Hologic, a medical technology company. The deal gives women’s pro tennis its first title sponsor since a deal with Sony Ericsson ended in 2010. The WTA declined to say how long its contract runs or how much it is worth but called it the “largest global sponsorship” in tour history.

Leksina, Aleksey Shchekov and Elena Vostrikova were suspended by the International Testing Agency for doping cases dating 10 years. Evidence was only recently revealed in a Moscow database that was withheld and tampered with by Russian authorities from 2015-19.
