1 PRO FOOTBALL: Longtime Indianapol­is Colts tight end Jack Doyle is retiring, the team announced Monday. Doyle, 31, played all 131 games of his nineyear career with his hometown team. In nine seasons with the Colts, he caught 295 passes for 2,729 yards and 24 touchdowns, making two Pro Bowls. Among Colts tight ends, Doyle ranks third all-time in receptions, fifth in yards receiving and fourth in TD catches. His down-to-earth demeanor made him one of the locker room’s most respected players.

2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Gabe

Brown and Malik Hall led a secondhalf surge and coach Tom Izzo became the all-time Big Ten leader in career wins as Michigan State defeated Maryland 77-67 on Sunday in East Lansing, Mich. With his 663rd win at Michigan State, Izzo passed former Indiana coach Bob Knight for the most wins at a Big Ten school. Knight remains the leader in conference wins, with 353 to second-place Izzo’s 322.

3 PRO GOLF: Needing to win or finish solo second to retain PGA Tour status, Ryan Brehm went out Sunday and ran away with the Puerto Rico Open for his first tour title. With wife Chelsey as his caddie, Brehm, 35, birdied five of the first 11 holes and beat Max Mcgreevy by six strokes.

4 TRACK AND FIELD: Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis broke his own world pole vault record with a 6.19-meter clearance at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting on Monday. Duplantis set the record of 6.18 in February 2020 indoors in Glasgow.

5 IDITAROD: The 50th running of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race started Sunday with 49 mushers. The race will cross Alaska’s unforgivin­g terrain, including two mountain ranges, the frozen Yukon River and the unpredicta­ble Bering Sea ice. The winner is expected to cross the finish line in the western Alaska community of Nome about nine days after the start.
