1 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Kentucky forward Oscar Tshiebwe is a unanimous pick as The Associated Press player of the year in the SEC. No. 4 Auburn’s Bruce Pearl is coach of the year, and Tigers’ freshman forward Jabari Smith, a Sandy Creek High graduate, is newcomer of the year. The AP ALL-SEC team was released Tuesday and voted on by 13 journalist­s covering the league.

2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Wake Forest guard Alondes Williams is The Associated Press player of the year for the ACC, while the Demon Deacons’ Steve Forbes was named coach of the year after leading them to an unexpected­ly strong season. Duke’s Paolo Banchero was also named as newcomer of the year.

3 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Kansas senior guard Ochai Agbaji is the unanimous pick as The Associated Press Big 12 player of the year after the league’s leading scorer helped the sixth-ranked Jayhawks share the regular-season conference title with No. 3 Baylor. The Jayhawks and defending national champion Bears are the only teams to have a player on both the AP first- and secondteam­s announced Tuesday.

4 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Wisconsin’s Johnny Davis is The Associated Press player of the year in the Big Ten and the Badgers’ Greg Gard is coach of the year. Davis won top honors over Iowa’s Keegan Murray, and both were unanimous picks for spots on the AP All-big Ten team. Nebraska freshman Bryce Mcgowens is newcomer of the year.

5 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: James Karnik scored 13 points and 13th-seeded Boston College used a 25-3 run to beat No. 12 seed Pittsburgh 66-46 on Tuesday in the opening game of the ACC tournament. Boston College (12-19) won its first conference tournament game since 2018 to advance to play No. 5 seed Wake Forest. Pittsburgh finishes 11-21.
