PRO HOCKEY: Auston Matthews 2 had two goals and an assist, and Jack Campbell made 23 saves in the second playoff shutout of his career as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning 5-0 Monday in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

Smith tried to clear the puck from behind his net and instead put it on the stick of a Kings player in front. Smith made a diving save but couldn’t corral the puck. Seconds later, Danault scored at 14:46 of the third after a shot by Sean Durzi.“playoffs are a long journey. There are going to be ups and downs,” said Smith, who stopped 31 of 35 shots he faced.

Hobbs resolved a misdemeano­r speeding case, entering a nocontest plea and paying a $250 fine. A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper ticketed Hobbs, 22, for reckless driving, reporting he clocked Hobbs’ vehicle at 110 mph in a 65 mph zone. The case was the second in a month involving Hobbs, one of several current and former Raiders to face charges in driving cases.
