1 Search on for capsize victims: At least 38 people have been rescued and 11 bodies found as the Coast Guard scoured the waters northwest of Puerto Rico on Friday via boat, plane and helicopter in a bid to find survivors after a boat believed to be carrying migrants capsized. The group was spotted Thursday by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter. Rescue efforts were concentrat­ed in an area more than 11 miles north of the island of Desecheo, west of Puerto Rico.

2 Bear victim identified: The Army said Thursday that Staff Sgt. Seth Michael Plant, 30, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Joint Base Elmendorf-richardson in Anchorage following a bear attack Tuesday. A supervisor for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game said informatio­n gathered so far suggests this was a “defensive attack by a female bear protecting her cubs.”

3 Croatia to introduce euro: Croatian lawmakers on Friday approved a law that paves the way for the introducti­on of the euro currency next year. Croatia is due to replace the Croatian kuna with the euro on Jan. 1. Croatia, which joined the European Union in 2013, remains among weaker economies of the bloc following the war in 1992-95.

4 Nissan mulls third U.S. plant: Nissan is considerin­g adding a new plant in the U.S. to keep up with growing demand for electric vehicles, a top executive at the Japanese automaker said Friday. Nissan Motor Co. has two auto plants in the U.S. One in Canton, Mississipp­i, makes the Titan pickup truck and Altima sedan, among other models. The other in Smyrna, Tennessee, makes the Leaf electric car, Pathfinder sport utility vehicle and other models.

5 UAE ruler dies: The United Arab Emirates’ long-ailing ruler and president, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 73, died Friday, the government announced.
