1 SPORTS MEDIA: Drew Brees is officially done at NBC Sports after one year. NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua told The Associated Press that Brees will not be a part of the network’s NFL and Notre Dame coverage this year. Following that report, Brees took to social media and said he had not decided his future.

PRO BASEBALL: Swapping out

2 their manager didn’t change the Los Angeles Angels’ fortunes Tuesday night. The Halos matched a franchise record with their 13th straight defeat hours after firing manager Joe Maddon, falling 6-5 to the Red Sox on Christian Vázquez’s go-ahead single in the 10th inning. Interim boss Phil Nevin lost his managerial debut, and star Mike Trout exited with left groin tightness as Los Angeles tied the franchise mark for its longest skid set from 1988-89.

3 PRO BASEBALL: New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso left Tuesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres after getting hit by a pitch and falling awkwardly leading off the second inning. The pitch from Yu Darvish hit Alonso on the right hand. The Mets said X-rays on Alonso’s hand were negative, and he would have further tests.

Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to make his season debut against Miami today. The 33-year-old Strasburg has been sidelined for most of the past two seasons. He underwent surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome last summer and has not pitched since June 1, 2021.

GOLF: Rickie Fowler came up

5 short by one shot in U.S. Open qualifying and now has to wait. Fowler did win a playoff Tuesday at Admiral’s Cove in Jupiter to become the first alternate out of Florida. Alternates come from all 13 qualifying sites, and Fowler is likely to be the fifth overall.
