HORSE RACING: The New York Racing Associatio­n suspended trainer Bob Baffert for one year Thursday for repeated medication violations. A panel credited Baffert for time served from an initial suspension that makes the twotime Triple Crown-winner eligible to saddle horses in New York again Jan. 26. The final decision marks the end of a protracted back and forth about Baffert’s status in the state that began in May 2021.

PRO TENNIS: Stefanos Tsitsipas 2 advanced to the final of the Mallorca Championsh­ips after beating Benjamin Bonzi in straight sets Friday. The second-seeded Tsitsipas saved all three break points he faced to win 6-4, 6-4. Tsitsipas will face Roberto Bautista Agut after the Spaniard beat Antoine Bellier 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Jarrett, who led Notre Dame to the College World Series for the first time in 20 years, is Florida State’s new coach. Florida State announced the hiring Friday, three days after the Irish’s season ended in the CWS. The move was anticipate­d. Jarrett is a Tallahasse­e native, FSU graduate and two-time All-america shortstop for the Seminoles.

4 President Nasser al-khelaïfi was acquitted in Switzerlan­d on Friday for a second time in a retrial of alleged wrongdoing linked to former FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke. Al-khelaïfi was cleared again of a charge of incitement to commit aggravated criminal mismanagem­ent.

OLYMPICS: The IOC will not add 5 a women’s Nordic Combined to the 2026 Winter Games, a decision Friday that confirms skiing as the only Olympic sport lacking gender equality. The longterm Olympic future of Nordic Combined was also put in doubt with no commitment to keep the men’s event on the program in 2030.
