What’s not working around metro Atlanta

-

Item: Roswell (Fulton)

A reader is bothered by incomplete work in a neighborhood in Roswell.

“This pic is near the entrance to our neighborhood, Nesbit Lakes, in Roswell. This road condition isn’t isolated. Our neighborhood is 30 years old; we’ve been here over 29. The city of Roswell finally broke down about two years ago and paved some of the smaller cul-de-sacs but not the main road that is almost two miles long. Then they stopped,” the reader wrote.

The reader says Roswell’s infrastructure is abominable. “I’ve called and written to the city — not lately — more than once with no results. If there’s anything the AJC can do to spur them on to finish this paving work, I and 300 of my neighbors would appreciate it,” he added.

We sent the issue to the city, which vowed to investigate it.

We told you about a reader’s concern about a loose grate on Peachtree Road in May.

oss from 2544 Peachtree Road NW and 2520 Peachtree Road there is a loose grate on the east side of the road. It is very dangerous as it flies up

in the air about nine inches every time a car drives over it. It also makes a very loud noise as it comes down.

“The grate is rectangular, about five feet long and sits very loosely on the road against the curb. We have contacted the city about this danger and noise nuisance several times and nothing has been done. All other grates up and down the road are secured down and do not move,” the reader wrote.

We started and contacted Atlanta city officials and learned that the grate is the responsibility of the Department of Transportation.

We heard back from the DOT the item was fixed.
