1 Kenya presidenti­al vote loser files Supreme Court challenge:

Kenya’s losing presidenti­al candidate Raila Odinga has filed a Supreme Court challenge to last week’s election result, asserting that the process was marked by criminal subversion and seeking that the outcome be nullified and a new vote be ordered. Odinga arrived to cheers Monday and helped to hoist boxes of material for the petition into place, starting the 14-day period in which the court must rule.

2 Ethics board: South Dakota governor may have ‘engaged in misconduct’:

A South Dakota ethics board on Monday said it found sufficient informatio­n that Gov. Kristi Noem may have “engaged in misconduct”when she intervened in her daughter’s applicatio­n for a real estate appraiser license and that it could take action against her. The three retired judges on the Government Accountabi­lity Board determined that “appropriat­e action”could be taken against Noem, though it didn’t specify the action.

3 David Kay, weapons inspector who helped disprove Iraqi WMDS, dies:

David A. Kay, the weapons proliferat­ion expert who led a Cia-run operation in 2003 that concluded former Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein had built no weapons of mass destructio­n, sharply underminin­g the chief justificat­ion for the U.s.-led invasion earlier that year, died Aug. 13 at his home in Ocean View, Del. He was 82.

4 Qatar detains workers:

Qatar recently arrested at least 60 foreign workers who protested going months without pay and deported some of them, an advocacy group said, just three months before Doha hosts the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

5 Police file terrorism charges against Pakistan’s ex-p.m.:

Pakistani police have filed terrorism charges against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, authoritie­s said Monday, escalating political tensions in the country as the ousted premier holds mass rallies seeking to return to office.
