HBO Max pulling 36 more shows

The Warner Bros. Discovery takeover has taken dozens of more victims at HBO Max, including a flurry of animated kids shows.

Thirty-six shows, including 20 originals, will be removed from the streaming site, the newly merged company announced Aug. 17.

“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and discovery+,” the streamer said in a statement. “That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”

Among the purged shows are teen drama “Genera+ion,” holiday-themed reality dating show “12 Dates of Christmas” and the Scott Foley-hosted “Ellen’s Next Great Designer.”

Most cuts went to kids animation shows, including “The Not-too-late Show with Elmo,” “Infinity Train,” “Tig n’ Seek” and “Summer Camp Island.”

“We worked for five years to make 100 episodes of animation,” “Summer Camp Island” creator Julia Pott tweeted Aug. 17. “We worked late into the night, we let ourselves go, we were a family of hard-working artists who wanted to make something beautiful, and HBO Max just pulled them all like we were nothing. Animation is not nothing!”

It’s unclear if any other options will be made available for the pulled shows, like DVDS or rentals.

The move follows an earlier removal of several Warner Bros. movies, including “Moonshot,” starring Lana Condor and Cole Sprouse, Melissa Mccarthy’s “Superintelligence,” the 2020 “Witches” remake, Seth Rogen’s “An American Pickle,” and “Locked Down,” starring Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
