PRO FOOTBALL: A court hearing was postponed Wednesday in the case alleging ex-las Vegas Raiders player Henry Ruggs caused a fatal crash while driving his sports car drunk at 156 mph last November on a residentia­l street. A prosecutor and defense attorney told a Las Vegas judge that a crucial police report has not been completed about the rearend wreck Nov. 2 that sparked a fire that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog.

PRO HOCKEY: Center Tim Stutzle 2 has agreed to an eight-year, $66.8 million contract extension with the Ottawa Senators, the team announced Wednesday. The deal which kicks in following the 202223 season, is the latest move by general manager Pierre Dorion to solidify Ottawa’s core. Stutzle has 34 goals and 87 points in 132 NHL games.

SOCCER: Representa­tives for the 3 men’s and women’s U.S. national teams on Tuesday signed their historic collective bargaining agreements with U.S. Soccer. The federation announced in May that it had struck agreements with the players’ unions on contracts that run through 2028. The new contracts include identical pay structures for appearance­s and tournament victories, revenue sharing and equitable distributi­on of World Cup prize money.

SOCCER: Carlos Queiroz

4 was rehired as Iran coach on Wednesday to take the national soccer team to its third straight World Cup, where the squad will face the United States, England and Wales. Queiroz was hired to replace Dragan Skocic.

COLLEGE SPORTS: Ball State

5 athletic director Beth Goetz will become Iowa’s deputy athletic director and chief operating officer. Iowa athletic director Gary Barta announced Wednesday that Goez would replace Barbara Burke, who will retire next spring. Goetz became Ball State athletic director in 2018.
