ECB makes historic rate hike: The 1
European Central Bank made its largest-ever interest rate increase Thursday, following the U.S. Federal Reserve and other central banks in a global stampede of rapid rate hikes meant to snuff out record inflation. The bank’s governing council raised its key benchmarks by threequarters of a percentage point for the 19 countries that use the euro currency.
Judge rules against HIV drug 2 coverage:
U.S. District Judge Reed O’connor ruled Wednesday that required coverage under the Affordable Care Act of the HIV prevention treatment known as PREP violates a Texas employer’s religious beliefs and undercut the broader system that determines which preventive drugs are covered in the U.S.
U.S. may expand monkeypox
3 vaccine eligibility: The expansion could include many men with HIV or those recently diagnosed with other sexually transmitted diseases. Currently, the CDC recommends the vaccine to close contacts of someone who has monkeypox; people who know a sexual partner was diagnosed in the past two weeks; and gay or bisexual men who had multiple sexual partners in the last two weeks in an area with known virus spread.
Ukraine energy chief:russia 4 trying to ‘steal’ nuclear plant:
The head of Ukraine’s atomic energy operator accused Russia on Thursday of trying to“steal” Europe’s largest nuclear plant by cutting it off from the Ukrainian electricity grid and leaving it on the brink of a radiation disaster. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been without an outside source of electricity since Monday.
Earl’s swell could affect U.S.:

Hurricane Earl is forecast to become a Category 4 hurricane and pass to the southeast of Bermuda. Swells are expected to reach the U.S. east coast and cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions through this weekend.
