1 PRO BASEBALL: The Miami Marlins acquired reliever Matt Barnes in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. Miami sent left-hander Richard Bleier to Boston for Barnes, who helped Boston win the 2018 World Series, going 6-4 with a 3.65 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 62 games covering 61 ⅔ innings.
2 PRO TENNIS: The men’s professional tennis tour says Alexander Zverev will not face disciplinary action after an investigation into domestic abuse allegations against him found “insufficient evidence” to substantiate the claims. The ATP had commissioned the investigation in October 2021 after Zverev’s former girlfriend accused the 2020 U.S. Open runner-up of abuse.
PRO BASKETBALL: The French 3 basketball federation has opened a disciplinary case after a Black player was reportedly targeted by a racist insult during a lowerleague game. United midfielder Christian Eriksen could miss most of the remainder of the season because of an ankle injury. United says he will be sidelined for “an extended period.”that is likely to be until late April or early May. The 30-year-old Denmark international sustained the injury during United’s 3-1 win against Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Hockey Federation said Tuesday it will prioritize safety concerns when deciding whether to allow Russian teams to take part in its competitions. The IIHF has ruled out Russia and its ally Belarus returning for this year’s world championships but is set to decide by the end of May on whether to readmit them for the 2023-24 season.
