Israeli settlers shot and seriously wounded two Palestinia­ns in the north of the occupied West Bank early Friday, Palestinia­n health officials said, in what authoritie­s describe as the latest incident in a wave of settler violence. The Palestinia­n Health Ministry said the two were being treated at a hospital in the village of Qusra, near the West Bank city of Nablus.

Fishing rule overturned: An

2 appeals court has struck down a federal fisheries management rule requiring operators of privately owned charter boats to equip their vessels with tracking devices, a victory for a group of Louisiana and Florida charter operators who challenged the rule in a 2020 lawsuit. Thursday’s ruling by a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans reversed a lower court decision upholding the regulation.

Alabama to resume executions: 3

An internal review of Alabama’s execution procedures is complete, and the state will resume lethal injections, Gov. Kay Ivey announced Friday. The governor initiated the review in November after three lethal injections were aborted because of problems with intravenou­s lines.

Man released from prison:a

4 man who insisted he was wrongly convicted has been released from a Michigan prison after nearly 21 years. Jeff Titus was freed from a life sentence after state authoritie­s acknowledg­ed that an Ohio serial killer could have been the person who killed two deer hunters in 1990. Titus has long claimed his innocence. Michigan authoritie­s say Titus’ rights were violated at his trial in 2002.

Missouri sued: The American

Civil Liberties Union of Missouri and two state library associatio­ns are suing over a new state law that bans sexually explicit material from schools, saying it violates the rights of librarians and students.
