1 PRO FOOTBALL: Prime Video will give an early Christmas gift to football fans for the coming season: Amazon announced Tuesday that the Black Friday game on Nov. 24 will be available for all fans to stream for free. The 2023 season will mark the first time the league has scheduled a game for the day after Thanksgiving. The teams for the 3 p.m. game will be announced later. The additional game gives Prime Video 16 regular-season games for the 2023 season.
2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Gabriella Smith made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points, Brittni Moore had 14 points and 10 rebounds and No. 2 seed Cleveland State beat top-seeded Green Bay 73-61 on Tuesday to claim its first Horizon League Tournament title since 2010. Cleveland State (30-4) will make the program’s third appearance in the Women’s NCAA Tournament.
3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Iowa taxpayers will pay $2 million to help the University of Iowa athletic department settle a lawsuit brought by former football players who allege racial discrimination existed in coach Kirk Ferentz’s program, a state board decided in a vote Monday. The state’s Appeal Board voted 2-1 to approve the use of taxpayer funds for half of the $4.175 million settlement.
4 PRO SOCCER: Major League Soccer said Tuesday it will keep pushing the sport’s international rules-makers to allow a trial of temporary substitutes for players suspected of concussions. The International Football Association Board, which decides rules, said Saturday that it will continue with trials of permanent substitutions.
5 PRO BASKETBALL: The Milwaukee Bucks played without either of its two 2023 All-stars on Tuesday night at Orlando. Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo (NON-COVID illness) and Jrue Holiday (neck) were listed as unavailable.
