Police officer killed: A Missouri police officer was killed and a second officer was badly wounded after a shooting at a small-town convenienc­e store. The shooting about 9:30 p.m. Sunday killed Detective Sgt. Mason Griffith of the Hermann Police Department. Authoritie­s have not released the name of the injured officer. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the injured officer was in serious but stable condition at a hospital. 2

Pfizer buys biotech drug firm: Pfizer is spending about $43 billion to reach deeper into new cancer treatments that target tumor cells while sparing surroundin­g healthy tissue. Pfizer said Monday it will pay $229 in cash for each share of Seagen Inc. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla says his company plans to let the biotech developer continue innovating. 3

Former PM leads rally: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan rallied thousands of supporters in eastern Pakistan on Monday as courts in the capital, Islamabad, issued two more arrest warrants for him over his failure to appear before judges in graft and terrorism cases, officials said. Since his ouster last April in a no-confidence vote in Parliament, Khan has routinely ignored arrest warrants and court summons. 4

Contract approved: Unionized workers at Caterpilla­r Inc. have approved a new six-year contract with the company that includes a $6,000 ratificati­on bonus, 19% in pay raises and 8% worth of lumpsum payments. Members of the United Auto Workers approved the deal over the weekend that covers 7,000 employees. 5

Nashville sues state: Nashville officials on Monday sued over a new Tennessee law that will cut the Democratic-leaning city’s metro council in half, a move that follows the council’s rejection of efforts to host the 2024 Republican National Convention in Music City.
