1 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Kansas coach Bill Self was discharged from a Kansas City-area hospital Sunday, and the Hall of Famer plans to rejoin the No. 3 Jayhawks as they begin defense of their NCAA championship this week. Self went to the emergency room Wednesday night complaining of chest tightness. Doctors said he underwent a standard heart catheterization and had two stents placed to help treat the blocked arteries. 2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Mcneese State athletic director Heath Schroyer named former LSU coach Will Wade as the Cowboys’ next men’s basketball coach. Wade was fired a year ago amid allegations of recruiting violations. LSU qualified for the NCAA Tournament three times in his five seasons. 3 PRO FOOTBALL: A person familiar with the deal said the Miami Dolphins are signing former New York Jets quarterback Mike White to a two-year contract to back up starter Tua Tagovailoa. White started four games for the Jets last season after New York demoted starter Zach Wilson. White was 1-3 as a starter with 1,192 passing yards, three TDS and four interceptions in 2022.
PRO FOOTBALL: Jawaan Taylor 4 has agreed to an $80 million, four-year contract with Kansas City to replace Orlando Brown Jr. as the blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes. Taylor started all 66 games he’s played in since entering the league as a secondround pick of the Jaguars in 2019. He primarily held down the right side of the line in Jacksonville.
PRO SOCCER: Atlanta United 5 winger Caleb Wiley and centerback Miles Robinson were named to the MLS team of the week following its 3-0 win at Charlotte last week. Wiley scored two goals and added an assist on Luiz Araujo’s goal. Robinson anchored a defense that posted Its first shutout.
