1 Four guilty in Jan. 6 attack:
Four people associated with the Oath Keepers were convicted on Monday of conspiracy and obstruction charges stemming from the attack on the U.S. Capitol in the latest trial involving members of the far-right antigovernment extremist group. A Washington D.C. jury found Sandra Parker, of Morrow, Ohio; Laura Steele, of Thomasville, North Carolina; William Isaacs, of Kissimmee, Florida; and Connie Meggs, of Dunnellon, Florida, guilty of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and other felony charges.
2 3 guilty in death of rapper: Three men were found guilty Monday of the 2018 killing of star rapper Xxxtentacion, who was shot outside a Florida motorcycle shop while being robbed of $50,000. Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, were found guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
3 Biden issues first veto: President Joe Biden has issued the first veto of his presidency as he seeks to block Republican-led efforts in Congress to overturn a Labor Department rule allowing retirement plans to consider environmental, social and governance factors when making investment decisions.
4 Philadelphia to pay $10 million: The city of Philadelphia announced Monday that it has agreed to pay nearly $10 million to settle a class-action lawsuit with civil rights groups that claimed the police department used excessive force during social justice demonstrations in 2020.
5 Kenyan legislators arrested: At least three Kenyan legislators and several protesters have been arrested in ongoing protests in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, organized by the opposition demanding the resignation of President William Ruto. The opposition says Ruto was not validly elected.
