1 PRO FOOTBALL: The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent safety Myles Hartsfield to a one-year contract and re-signed tight end Ross Dwelley to a oneyear deal. Hartsfield spent the past three seasons in Carolina after signing with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Hartsfield played 41 games for the Panthers with 115 tackles and seven passes defensed. Dwelley joined San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has 43 catches for 506 yards and five TDS in 72 games.

2 PRO FOOTBALL: The Pittsburgh

Steelers have promoted Denzel Martin to outside linebackers coach and hired Baltimore Ravens assistant Jason Brooks as a defensive quality control coach. Brian Flores, a senior defensive assistant in 2022, left to become the defensive coordinator in Minnesota in February.

3 PRO BASKETBALL: Lamelo Ball anticipates being ready for the Charlotte Hornets training camp in September after suffering through an injury-plagued season in which he sprained his left ankle three times and fractured his right ankle. Ball has been limited to just 36 games this season. He said he hasn’t decided whether he’ll wear ankle braces moving forward to help prevent future injuries.

4 SOCCER: Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Nick Pope have withdrawn from the England squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine. The Football Association confirmed Manchester United forward Rashford had suffered a knock during the 3-1 win against Fulham in the FA Cup. Mount is recovering from a pelvic injury and the FA said Pope was hurt after Newcastle’s win against Nottingham Forest.

5 SOCCER: Barcelona defender Ronaldo Araujo has been dropped from Uruguay’s national team because of a strained adductor muscle in his left thigh that he suffered Sunday.
