PRO BASKETBALL: The NBA is adding a fan event to Summer League. The league unveiled plans Thursday for a three-day event called NBA Con, which will run from July 7-9 in Las Vegas and coincide with the opening days of the league’s summer session there. Fans will have the opportunit­y to meet and interact with current and past players, with the list of commitment­s for this year including presumed No. 1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama, fellow top draft prospect Scoot Henderson, Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-jabbar and current NBA players Mike Conley, Tyrese Haliburton, CJ Mccollum and Trae Young. 1

Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon denied that former Aces player Dearica Hamby was bullied on her team for being pregnant, saying any ill feelings between the two came from Hamby being traded. Hammon told reporters she did nothing to warrant discipline from the WNBA, which suspended her for two games without pay Tuesday after an investigat­ion into Hamby’s allegation­s.

PRO BASEBALL: Less than a year after coming back from Tommy John surgery, Dodgers pitcher Dustin May is headed back to the injured list due to right elbow pain and will miss at least one month . ... Twins center fielder Nick Gordon is heading to the injured list after he fractured his right shin during Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers . ... Padres slugger Manny Machado has a small fracture in his hand and the team isn’t sure if he will require a stint on the injured list. Machado was hit by a pitch Monday.

PRO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL:

PRO BASEBALL: Yankees RHP Luis Severino is expected to be activated off the injured list Sunday to start in Cincinnati against the Reds. Severino is scheduled to pitch in place of Domingo Germán, suspended for 10 games Wednesday by Major League Baseball and fined for violating the sport’s prohibitio­n of foreign substances on the mound. A two-time All-star, Severino, 29, has not pitched for the Yankees this season because of a right lat strain.

AUTO RACING: Exceptiona­l

5 rains and flooding in a droughtstr­uck region of northern Italy forced Formula One to cancel this weekend’s Emilia-romagna Grand Prix. The series did not want to overtax emergency crews already stretched thin in responding to the rivers of mud that have torn through the region, wreaking havoc on infrastruc­ture and homes.
