PRO FOOTBALL: The Pittsburgh Steelers’ charter flight home following a Sunday night win in Las Vegas made an emergency landing in Kansas City early Monday. Team spokesman Burt Lauten posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that everyone on the plane is safe and the team was making plans to arrive in Pittsburgh later in the day. The team was originally scheduled to arrive in Pittsburgh around 5:30 a.m. EDT after improving to 2-1 by holding off the Raiders. 1

PRO SOCCER: Homophobic chanting by sections of Paris Saint-germain fans targeting Marseille players has again marred the biggest game in French soccer and prompted calls for sanctions. Olivier Klein, inter-ministeria­l delegate for the fight against racism, anti-semitism and ANTI-LGBTQ+ , posted a video of PSG supporters using insulting homophobic slurs aimed at their Marseille rivals. PSG won the game at the Parc des Princes 4-0. Klein called for sanctions and was joined by French sports minister Amelie Oudea-castera.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Pittsburgh will have to find a way to recover from its worst start since 2017 without left tackle Matt Goncalves. Coach Pat Narduzzi says Goncalves is done for the season after sustaining a lower-body injury in a loss to West Virginia on Sept. 16. Pitt is off to a 1-3 start for just the second time in Narduzzi’s nine years with the program. The status of senior quarterbac­k Phil Jurkovec is uncertain as the Panthers prepare to play at Virginia Tech on Saturday night. Jurkovec left a loss to No. 15 North Carolina with an undisclose­d injury.

3HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: A Michigan high school’s recordsett­ing winning streak in eightplaye­r football has ended at 41 games. Lake Linden-hubbell defeated Powers North Central 28-25 in the Upper Peninsula on Friday. The streak began in 2020 and included playoff victories. In four previous games, North Central had outscored its opponents, 208-46.

Alexander Zverev will play for a 21st career title after beating third-seeded Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 7-6 (2) in the semifinals of the Chengdu Open in China. Zverev hit 10 winners and four aces in the first set and his serve continued to be effective in the second set. The 26-year-old German will meet Roman Safiullin in today’s final. The 55th-ranked Russian defeated second-seeded Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-4.
