PRO TENNIS: Novak Djokovic is the year-end No. 1 in the ATP rankings for the eighth time, adding to his record. Djokovic won three of the four Grand Slam tournament­s to raise his career total to a men’s-record 24 and was the runner-up at the other, Wimbledon. He went 56-7 this season, leading the tour with seven titles. The Serbian regained the top ranking from Carlos Alcaraz, who finished at No. 2. Iga Swiatek claimed the WTA’S year-end No. 1 ranking for a second consecutiv­e year, winning the WTA Finals last month to overtake Aryna Sabalenka. Coco Gauff finished at No. 3. 1

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett is out indefinite­ly after surgery for a high right ankle sprain, one day after a 2410 loss to Arizona that he left in the second quarter when a Cardinals player fell on Pickett’s legs at the end of a 2-yard scramble. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Mitch Trubisky will start when the Steelers host New England on Thursday night.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney hired two new assistants to replace the pair he fired last week. Former Georgia assistant Matt Luke will take over as offensive line coach and Chris Rumph will handle defensive ends. Luke, 47, has 27 years of college coaching experience, including three years as head coach at Mississipp­i. Rumph, 51, previously worked at Clemson and spent the past four seasons coaching in the NFL.

PRO FOOTBALL: Titans coach Mike Vrabel fired special teams coordinato­r Craig Aukerman after the Titans had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown, followed by the punter suffering a season-ending injury on his next punt attempt. The move comes after the Titans (4-8) lost second-year punter Ryan Stonehouse to an injured left leg. Vrabel said Stonehouse will need season-ending surgery, costing the Titans a punter who as a rookie set an NFL single-season record for gross yards per punt that had stood since 1940.

BOBSLED: Kaillie Humphries announced she is missing this season because she and her husband, ex-bobsledder Travis Armbruster, are expecting their first child. Humphries, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, has been open about plans to become a mother, saying after the 2022 Beijing Olympics (where she won gold in monobob) that she was hoping to become pregnant with an eye on returning in time to compete at the 2026 Olympics.
